Heater Case/Cover Replacement

HEATER CASE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the Instrument Panel (IP).
2. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System.
3. Remove the clamps and the heater hoses from the heater core at the bulkhead.
4. Disconnect the air duct from the heater case.
5. Remove the following components from the vehicle:
^ The 2 bolts (1)
^ The 2 nuts (2)
^ The heater case




6. Remove the heater case retaining clips and the 2 screws (1) from the heater case.




7. Separate the heater case halves (2,3).
8. Disassemble the doors (1).
9. Disassemble the linkages (4).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Assemble the doors (1).
2. Assemble the linkages (4).
3. Position the heater case halves (2,3) together.




4. Install the following components to the heater case.
^ The retaining clips
^ The 2 screws (1)

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




5. Install the heater case to the vehicle.
Secure the case with the 2 nuts (2) and with the 2 bolts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the heater case mounting bolts and the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Connect the air duct to the blower case at the heater case.
7. Connect the heater hoses and the clamps to the heater core.
8. Refill the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System.
9. Install the IP.
