Removal and Replacement




Generator Replacement (2.5L)

Removal Procedure





Caution:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the serpentine accessory drive belt by lowering the vehicle and turning the automatic tensioner roller bolt clockwise to relieve tension on the belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement (2.5L) Service and Repair.





3. Disconnect the harness connector form the back of the generator, and the generator lead to the battery.





4. Carefully remove the generator with the bolts.

Installation Procedure





Notice:
Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

1. Install the generator to the generator bracket and insert the generator bolt.

* Tighten the generator bracket upper bolt to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).

* Tighten the generator bracket lower bolt to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).





2. Connect the harness connector to the back of the generator, and the generator lead to the battery.





3. Route the serpentine accessory drive belt. Refer to Power Steering Pump Belt Replacement (2.5L) Service and Repair.

4. Relieve tension on the belt by first applying downward pressure on the automatic tension roller bolt and releasing pressure once the belt is in place.

5. Connect the negative battery cable.
