Starter Replacement (2.5L)

Removal Procedure





Caution:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the air hose inlet hose bolts.





3. Remove the starter solenoid nut to disconnect the electrical cable.

4. Disconnect the starter electrical connector.





5. Remove the starter-to-engine block mounting bolt and the starter-to-transmission mounting bolt.

6. Remove the starter assembly.

Installation Procedure





Notice:
Refer to Fastener Notice Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

1. Install the starter-to-engine block mounting bolt and the transmission-to-starter mounting bolt.

* Tighten the starter-to-engine block mounting bolt to 45 Nm (33 lb ft).

* Tighten the transmission-to-starter mounting bolt to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).





2. Position the starter electrical wire on the solenoid terminals and the ground wire.

3. Install the starter solenoid nut.

Tighten the starter solenoid nut to 7 Nm (61 lb in).

4. Connect the starter solenoid connector.





5. Install the air inlet hose.

6. Install the air inlet hose bolts.

Tighten the air inlet hose bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb in).

7. Connect the negative battery cable.
