Brake Pad: Testing and Inspection

Brake Pad Inspection

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Inspect the brake pads for wear.
4. Measure the thickness.

The minimum thickness of the inner or the outer pad is 2 mm (0.08 in).

5. Install the brake pads in axle sets only.
6. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
7. Lower the vehicle
