Secondary Air Injection Pipe Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (With LZE, NU6 and PZEV) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the secondary air injection (AIR) shutoff/check valve nuts (1).




3. Remove the AIR pipe bolts (1).
4. Remove the AIR pipe, heat shield, and gaskets. Discard the gaskets.
5. Remove the heat shield from the AIR pipe.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the heat shield to the AIR pipe, and install one middle AIR pipe bolt to the pipe
2. Install NEW AIR pipe gaskets to the studs and the bolt.
3. Position and install the AIR pipe.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

4. Install the remaining AIR pipe bolts (1).

Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




5. Install the AIR shutoff/check valve nuts (1).

Tighten the nuts to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

6. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (With LZE, NU6 and PZEV) (Service and Repair).
