Fuel Pump Module Replacement (NU6)

Special Tools

J-45722 - Fuel Tank Sender Wrench

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools (Tools and Equipment).

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Warning (Service Precautions).

1. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Removal and Replacement).




2. Using the J-45722 - wrench , remove the cam lock ring (1) by turning counterclockwise.




3. Partially raise the fuel pump module and disconnect the plastic connectors (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.




5. Remove the fuel pump flange (1) and O-ring (2).




6. Disconnect the fuel pump plastic connector (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
7. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical connector.




8. Turn the fuel pump counter-clockwise so the locking tab (1) aligns with the opening (2).




9. Remove the fuel pump (1).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the fuel pump (1).




2. Turn the fuel pump clockwise so that the locking tab (1) seats the fuel pump into position.




3. Connect the fuel pump electrical connector and the fuel pump plastic connector. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).




4. Install the fuel pump flange (1) and a NEW O-ring.




5. Partially install the fuel pump module and connect the plastic connectors. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
6. Connect the electrical connector.




7. Using the J-45722 - wrench , install the cam lock ring (1) by turning clockwise.
8. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement (Removal and Replacement).
