Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement

Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement

Caution: Whenever the windshield side garnish molding is removed or replaced, the upper retaining clip and tether must be replaced with a new one-piece service retainer clip. Failure to replace clip may cause the windshield side garnish molding to not fit or function as designed. Do not reuse the old clip, it is a one time only use design. Do not separate the two halves of the service retainer clip.

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair).

2. Remove the windshield side garnish molding assembly (1) from the clip retainers on the upper side rail.

Note: Take care not to drop any portion of the retaining clip into the body side hinge pillar. This could cause an irreversible rattle condition.

3. Remove the retainer (1) from the body side.

1. Slide a small flat-bladed tool on the outboard side to disengage the center retainer (2), maintain pressure on the tab.
2. Slide another small flat-bladed tool on the opposite side of the retainer to depress the outer tabs (3), maintain pressure on the tabs.
3. Rotate the retainer out parallel to the upper reinforcement body hinge pillar.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the one-piece service closed retainer (2) to the windshield side garnish molding assembly (1).

2. Install the windshield side garnish molding assembly (1).
