Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Steering Shaft Upper Bearing Spring Replacement

Special Tools
* J 23653-SIR - Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor
* J 42137 - Steering Column Lock Plate Compressor Adapter

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Steering Wheel Inflatable Restraint Module Coil Replacement (Coil) (Removal and Replacement).




2. Remove the steering shaft lock plate retaining ring using the J 23653-SIR - compressor and the J 42137 - adapter and dispose of it.




3. Remove the turn signal cancel cam plate (1).
4. Remove the turn signal cancel cam (2).
5. Remove the steering shaft upper bearing spring (3).
6. Remove the steering shaft upper bearing race seat (4).
7. Remove the steering shaft upper bearing (5).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the steering shaft upper bearing (4).
2. Install the steering shaft upper bearing race seat (3).
3. Install the steering shaft upper bearing spring (2).
4. Apply lubricant to the turn signal cancel cam (1). Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Fluid Type Specifications) for the recommended lubricant.
5. Install the turn signal cancel cam (1).




6. Install the turn signal cancel cam plate.




7. Install the new steering shaft lock plate retaining ring using the J 23653-SIR - compressor and the J 42137 - adapter.
