Charge Air Cooling System Coolant Level Inspection

Charge Air Cooling System Coolant Level Inspection (LSA)

Note: Make sure the intercooler system is cool and that the pump is not in the ON position.

1. Open the hood and remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Front Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Front.

2. Orientate the charge air coolant (CAC) quick connect fitting to the vertical position.

3. Rotate and remove the charge air coolant cap (1).

4. Verify that coolant is visible near to top of the opening.

Note: Use a 50/50 mixture of DEX-COOL(R) antifreeze and clean drinkable water.

Pour the coolant in very small amounts to avoid coolant spillage from the charge air coolant cap port or from funnel.

5. If necessary, using a small funnel, slowly fill the charge air cooling system through the charge air coolant cap port with a 50/50 coolant mixture until the level is slightly below the charge air coolant cap port. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities [1][2]Capacity Specifications.

6. If the system is significantly low, refer to Charge Air Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSA Static) Charge Air Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static)Charge Air Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSA Vacuum Fill) Charge Air Cooling System Draining and Filling (Vacuum Fill).

7. Install the charge air coolant cap (1).

8. Orientate the charge air coolant (CAC) quick connect fitting to the previously installed position to allow for the engine cover clearance.

9. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Front Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Front.
