Battery Negative Cable Replacement (Primary)

Removal Procedure

1. Open the rear compartment lid.

2. Remove the rear compartment floor panel carpet. Refer to Rear Compartment Floor Panel Carpet Replacement (Sedan) Rear Compartment Floor Panel Carpet Replacement (Sedan).

3. Remove the rear end trim finish panel. Refer to Rear End Trim Finish Panel Replacement Rear End Trim Finish Panel Replacement.





4. Remove the rear compartment side trim panel to body retaining rivets (1).

5. Detach and move the rear compartment side trim panel (2) away from the left body side panel.





Warning:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning Battery Disconnect Warning.


6. Remove the battery negative cable to battery terminal retaining nut (2).

7. Detach the battery negative cable (1) from the battery negative terminal (3).





8. Disconnect the current sensor electrical connector (3).

9. Remove the battery negative cable to body retaining bolt (2).

10. Remove the battery negative cable (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the battery negative cable (1) to the vehicle.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the battery negative cable to body retaining bolt (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

3. Connect the current sensor electrical connector (3).





Note:
Clean any corrosion from the battery negative terminal (3).

4. Attach the battery negative cable (1) to the battery negative terminal (3).

5. Install the battery negative cable to battery negative terminal retaining nut (2) and tighten to 17 Nm (13 lb ft).





6. Attach the rear compartment side trim panel (2) to the left body side panel.

7. Install the rear compartment side trim panel to body retaining scrivets (1).

8. Install the rear end trim finish panel. Refer to Rear End Trim Finish Panel Replacement Rear End Trim Finish Panel Replacement.

9. Install the rear compartment floor panel carpet. Refer to Rear Compartment Floor Panel Carpet Replacement (Sedan) Rear Compartment Floor Panel Carpet Replacement (Sedan).

10. Close the rear compartment lid.
