Steering Column Shroud Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Lower the tilt and telescope lever. Keep the lever in the released position.

Telescope the steering column to the maximum rearward position.

Tilt the steering column to the lowest position.





2. Release the 1 tab (1) that secures the right side of the upper steering column shroud to the steering column.





3. Release the 1 tab (1) that secures the left side of the upper steering column shroud to the steering column.





4. Release the 2 tabs (2) that secure the right side of the upper steering column shroud to the steering column.

5. Release the 2 tabs that secure the left side of the upper steering column shroud to the steering column.

6. Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool in order to release the retaining tabs (1) securing the instrument panel cluster trim plate to the instrument panel.

7. Remove the upper steering column shroud and the instrument panel cluster trim plate as an assembly from the instrument panel.





8. Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool in order to release the clip (2) and the 2 retainers.

Remove the upper steering column shroud (3) from the instrument panel cluster trim plate (1).





9. Remove the 2 bolts (2) from the lower left steering column shroud (1).

10. Disengage the 4 tabs and remove the lower left steering column shroud from the steering column.





11. Remove the 2 bolts (2) from the lower right steering column shroud (1).

12. Disengage the instrument panel harness retainer from the lower right steering column shroud.

13. Remove the lower right steering column shroud from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Secure the instrument panel harness retainer to the lower right steering column shroud (1).

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the lower right steering column shroud to the steering column with the 2 bolts (2) and tighten to 2.5 Nm (22 lb in)..





3. Route the tilt and telescope lever through the opening in the lower left steering column shroud (1).

Install the lower left steering column shroud to the steering column and engage the 4 tabs.

4. Install the 2 bolts (2) to the lower left steering column shroud.





5. Install the instrument panel cluster trim plate (1) to the instrument panel assembly.

6. Install the upper steering column shroud (3) to the instrument panel cluster trim plate with the clip (2) and the 2 retainers.

7. Install the left side of the upper steering column shroud to the steering column with the 2 tabs.

8. Install the right side of the upper steering column shroud to the steering column with the 2 tabs.





9. Install the left side of the upper steering column shroud to the steering column with the 1 tab (1).





10. Install the right side of the upper steering column shroud to the steering column with the 1 tab (1).

11. Raise the tilt and telescope lever to the secured position.
