Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

Disconnect Procedure

Warning:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning Service Precautions.


1. Turn off all the lamps and accessories.

2. Turn the ignition OFF.

3. Open the rear compartment floor panel.





4. Open the rear access panel (1) on the rear compartment floor stowage trim panel.





5. Loosen the negative cable nut (1).

6. Remove the negative battery cable (4) from the battery terminal.

7. Reposition the negative battery cable (4) away from the battery.

Connect Procedure





Warning:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning Service Precautions.


Note:
Clean any existing corrosion from the battery terminal and the battery cable end.

1. Position the negative battery cable (4) to the battery.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the negative battery cable onto the battery terminal and tighten cable nut (1) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





3. Close the access cover (1).

4. Lower the rear compartment floor panel.
