Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft Seal and Inner Shaft Bearing Replacement (9.25 Inch HD Axle)

* EN 44215 - Seal Installer
* J 2619-01 - Slide Hammer
* J 8092 - Universal Driver Handle - 3/4 in - 10
* J 29369-2 - Bushing and Bearing Remover (2-3 inch)
* J 36609 - Bearing Installer
* J 45859 - Axle Remover

Removal Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Drain the differential carrier assembly. Refer to Front Axle Lubricant Replacement (Front Drive Axle).
3. Remove the front drive axle inner axle shaft housing assembly from the vehicle and disassemble. Refer to Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 F4WD Axle) (Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 F4WD Axle))Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 S4WD and 9.25 Axles) (Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 S4WD and 9.25 Axles))

Note: Clamp only on the mounting flange of the inner axle shaft housing.

4. Install the front drive axle inner axle shaft housing into a vise.





Note: Ensure that the J 29369-2 remover is positioned behind the inner axle bearing.

5. Using the J 2619-01 - hammer (1) and the J 29369-2 - remover (2), remove and discard the front drive axle inner bearing and the seal. Replace with NEW only.

Installation Procedure




1. Using the J 8092 - handle (2) and the J 36609 - installer (1), install the NEW front drive axle inner bearing.




2. Using the EN 44215 - installer (1) and the J 8092 - handle (2), install the NEW front drive axle inner axle shaft seal.

Note: Carefully tap the inner axle shaft into place with a soft-faced mallet.

3. Install the inner axle shaft into the inner axle shaft housing.
4. Assembly the front drive axle inner axle shaft housing assembly and install it in the vehicle. Refer to Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 F4WD Axle) (Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 F4WD Axle))Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 S4WD and 9.25 Axles) (Front Drive Axle Inner Shaft and Inner Shaft Housing Replacement (8.25 S4WD and 9.25 Axles)).
5. Fill the differential carrier assembly. Use the correct fluid. Refer to Front Axle Lubricant Replacement (Front Drive Axle).
6. Lower the vehicle.
