Vehicle Theft Security - Description
DESCRIPTION
The Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) is designed to protect against whole vehicle theft and provide passive protection against unauthorized vehicle start up. If an invalid key is used to start the vehicle, the engine will cut out after two (2) seconds of running. In subsequent years there were various modules controlling the VTSS system. On this model, the WCM has been replaced with the Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) to control the VTSS system. The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter has been replaced with the Fob Integrated Key (FOBIK). The primary components of the system are the Wireless Ignition Node (WIN), FOB Integrated Key (FOBIK), and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The WIN is mounted on the instrument panel to the right of the steering column. The indicator light is located in the instrument cluster or Cabin Compartment Node (CCN). The system monitors vehicle doors, ignition and liftgate action for any unauthorized operation (includes hood switch for Export). The alarm activates:
- Sounding of the horn.
- Flashing of the hazard lamps.
- An engine kill feature.
