Starter Motor - Installation







4.0L





1. Install starter motor shim (2).
2. Install starter motor bushing (1).
3. Rotate starter assembly (6) to allow positioning into transmission (5).
4. Install starter assembly (6) to transmission (5).
5. Install two front transmission mount to starter mounting bolts (3) and tighten to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.)
6. Install transmission to starter mounting bolt (4) and tighten to 47 Nm (35.5 ft. lbs.).
7. Remove jack stand or equivalent from engine/transmission assembly.




8. Install battery cable (2) and nut (3) to solenoid stud (1). Tighten to 14.5 Nm (128 in. lbs.).
9. Connect electrical connector (4) to solenoid.




10. Install left maniverter assembly, Exhaust Manifold - Installation.




11. Connect negative battery cable, tighten nut to 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.).




12. Remove engine support tool 8534-12 or equivalent.
