Starter Motor - Removal







4.0L





1. Install engine support tool 8534-12 or equivalent.




2. Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable at battery.




3. Remove left maniverter assembly, Exhaust Manifold - Removal.




4. Remove battery nut (3) and battery cable (2) from solenoid stud (1).
5. Disconnect electrical connector (4) from solenoid.




6. Remove transmission to starter mounting bolt (4).
7. Support the engine/transmission assemblies with a jack stand or equivalent.
8. Remove two front transmission mount to starter mounting bolts (3).
9. Remove starter assembly (6) from transmission (5).
10. Rotate starter assembly (6) to allow removal from vehicle.
11. Remove starter motor bushing (1).
12. Remove starter motor shim (2).
