Pinpoint Test Q: The Audio Control Module (ACM) Does Not Respond To Touchscreen Or Button Presses
Normal Operation
When a button is pressed on the Audio Control Module (ACM) (whether it is a hard button or the touchscreen), a signal is sent over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) to the modules in the audio system.
- B2924 (Audio Button Stuck) - sets in continuous memory when an ACM hard button is stuck for longer than 2 minutes, or during the on-demand self-test if an ACM hard button is detected as active for any duration. Make sure no ACM buttons are pressed during the self-test. This DTC applies to vehicles without navigation only.
- U2013:63 (Switch Pack: Circuit / Component Protection Time-Out) - sets in continuous memory when an ACM hard button is stuck for longer than 2 minutes, or during the on-demand self-test if an ACM hard button is detected as active for any duration. Make sure no ACM buttons are pressed during the self-test. This DTC applies to vehicle with navigation only.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Communication network concern
- ACM
PINPOINT TEST Q: THE ACM DOES NOT RESPOND TO TOUCHSCREEN OR BUTTON PRESSES
-------------------------------------------------
Q1 CHECK FOR DTCs B2924 OR U2013:63
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the ACM DTCs.
- Wait 3 minutes.
- Repeat the ACM self-test, making sure that no buttons are pressed during the test.
- Is DTC B2924 or U2013:63 set in the ACM?
Yes
GO to Q3.
No
GO to Q2.
-------------------------------------------------
Q2 CHECK FOR SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATION WITH THE ACM
- Carry out the network test using the scan tool.
- Does the scan tool communicate with the ACM?
Yes
GO to Q3.
No
REFER to Information Bus.
-------------------------------------------------
Q3 CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect all the ACM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the ACM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new ACM. REFER to Audio Control Module (ACM) Audio Control Module (ACM). TEST the system for normal operation. If the system still does not operate correctly, INSTALL a new video feed cable (part of the 14401 harness). TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
