Symptom Troubleshooting: Navigation display buttons do not work or respond properly

Navigation display buttons do not work or respond properly
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first. Testing and Inspection
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Before troubleshooting, make sure you have the audio system and the navigation system anti-theft codes.
- Make sure that the correct colored DVD and version are installed.
- Inspect the DVD for damage.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
Does the navigation display turn on?
YES - Go to step 2.
NO - Refer to troubleshooting for no picture is displayed. Symptom Troubleshooting
2. Try several navigation buttons and touch screen buttons.
Do all the buttons function properly?
YES - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
NO -
- If all navigation hard buttons and touch screen buttons are inoperative, go to step 3.
- If only some navigation buttons operate normally, while others do not, go into the Diagnostic mode and use Touch Panel diagnostic under Monitor Check Navigation System Diagnostic Mode (With Navigation), and if necessary, Hard Key diagnostic under Unit Check. Navigation System Diagnostic Mode (With Navigation)
3. Try to load and play a CD in the audio disc changer.
Does the CD display on the audio unit when the CD button is pressed?
YES - Go to step 9.
NO - Go to step 4.
4. Do the forced starting of display. Navigation System Forced Starting of Display (With Navigation)
Are all the connections normal (green)?
YES - Check the operation of the navigation screen, then press Return. Then press Monitor Check. Then press Touch Panel Check. If any buttons on the screen do not respond properly, replace the navigation display unit. Service and Repair
NO -
- The display, 6 CD, radio and the XM are red: Go to step 4.
- Only some of the links are red: Go to step 9.
5. Remove the radio without disconnecting the connectors.
6. Check for continuity between audio unit connector B (14P) terminals No. 9 and No. 10 and body ground individually.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 7.
NO - Check all pin fits, and recheck operation. If the circuit is OK, substitute a navigation unit. Service and Repair If there is no change, replace the navigation display unit. Service and Repair
7. In this order, disconnect the connectors one at a time until you no longer have continuity to ground.
- XM receiver connector A (14P)
- Navigation unit connector B (32P)
- Navigation unit connector C (16P)
- Navigation display unit connector A (20P)
- Audio disc changer connector B (14P)
- Audio disc changer connector A (18P)
- Audio unit connector B (14P)
8. On the connector that you disconnected and lost continuity, check for continuity to ground on each terminal listed.
- Navigation unit C2 and C10
- Navigation unit B10 and B26
- Navigation display unit A3 and A13
- Audio disc changer A5 and A15
Is there continuity to ground?
YES - Replace the shorted harness.
NO - Replace the navigation unit Service and Repair that is shorted to ground.
9. Check for continuity between the audio disc changer connector B, navigation display unit connector A, and navigation unit connector A according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES - Check all pin fits, and recheck operation. If the circuit is OK, substitute a navigation unit. Service and Repair If there is no change, replace the navigation display unit. Service and Repair
NO - Replace the faulty harness.
