Front Passenger's Airbag Replacement

NOTE: If replacing the front passenger's airbag after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

Removal

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Remove the glove box Service and Repair.

3. Disconnect the dashboard wire harness B 4P connector (A) from the front passenger's airbag 4P connector.





4. Remove the passenger's dashboard upper panel and dashboard tray cover Passenger's Dashboard Upper Panel And Dashboard Tray Cover Removal/Installation.

5. Remove the screws (A) and the mounting nuts (B) from the bracket. Cover the front passenger's lid and dashboard with a cloth, and pry carefully with a screwdriver to lift the front passenger's airbag assembly (C) out of the dashboard.

NOTE: The front passenger's lid has pawls (D) on its side that attach it to the dashboard.










Installation

1. Place the front passenger's airbag assembly (A) into the dashboard, then install the new mounting nuts (B) and the screws (C).





2. Reinstall the passenger's dashboard upper panel and dashboard tray cover Passenger's Dashboard Upper Panel And Dashboard Tray Cover Removal/Installation.

3. Connect the dashboard wire harness B 4P connector (A) to the front passenger's airbag 4P connector.





4. Reinstall the glove box Service and Repair.

5. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.

6. Clear any DTCs.

7. After installing the front passenger's airbag, confirm proper system operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
