DTC Troubleshooting: P0369

DTC P0369 : CMP Sensor B Circuit Intermittent Interruption

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information How to Troubleshoot the Fuel And Emissions Systems.


1. Problem verification (idling):

-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS. How to Troubleshoot the Fuel And Emissions Systems

-3. Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds.

-4. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0369 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.





Does the HDS indicate FAILED?
-YES- The failure is duplicated. Go to step 3.
-NO- If the HDS indicates PASSED, go to step 2. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, keep idling until a result comes on.

2. Problem verification (test-drive):

-1. Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the range of these recorded freeze data parameters:
* ENGINE SPEED
* VEHICLE SPEED

-2. Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0369 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.





Does the HDS indicate FAILED?
-YES- The failure is duplicated. Go to step 3.
-NO- If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at CMP sensor B and the PCM. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, retest and check the OBD STATUS again.

3. Connectors and terminals condition check:

-1. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at these locations:
* CMP sensor B
* PCM
* Engine ground
* Body ground

Are the connections and terminals OK?
-YES- Go to step 4.
-NO- Repair the connections or terminals, then do the repair verification.

4. CMP pulse plate B visual check:

-1. Remove the cylinder head cover, then check for damage to CMP pulse plate B.

Is the pulse plate damaged?
-YES- Replace CMP pulse plate B CMP Pulse Plate B Removal And Installation, then do the repair verification.
-NO- Replace CMP sensor B CMP Sensor B Removal And Installation, then do the repair verification.

Repair verification:

-1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

-2. Reconnect all connectors.

-3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

-4. Reset the PCM with the HDS How to Troubleshoot the Fuel And Emissions Systems.

-5. Do the PCM idle learn procedure PCM Idle Learn Procedure.

-6. Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds, or test-drive the vehicle for several minutes under the freeze data conditions (same as step 2-1).

-7. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P0369 indicated?
-YES- Check for poor connections or loose terminals at CMP sensor B and the PCM, then go to step 1.
-NO- Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
