HVAC Control Unit Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Shift Lever Panel (AT)





1. Carefully pry out the shift lever panel (A) with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (B, C) and the hooks (D), then remove the shift lever panel.

2. Driver's Inner Dashboard Trim Panel





1. Carefully pry out the driver's inner dashboard trim panel (A) with the appropriate trim tool to detach the clips (B), then remove the driver's inner dashboard trim panel.

3. HVAC Control Unit Assembly





1. Remove the HVAC control unit assembly (A), then disconnect the connector (B).

4. HVAC Control Unit





1. Remove the dials (A).

2. Remove the HVAC control unit (B).

Installation

1. HVAC Control Unit





1. Install the HVAC control unit (A).

2. Install the dials (B).

2. HVAC Control Unit Assembly





1. Connect the connector (A), then install the HVAC control unit assembly (B).

3. Driver's Inner Dashboard Trim Panel





1. Install the driver's inner dashboard trim panel (A). Make sure the clips (B) snap into place securely.

4. Shift Lever Panel (AT)





1. Install the shift lever panel (A). Make sure the clips (B, C) and the hooks (D) snap into place securely.

5. HVAC Self-Diagnostic Function

How to Use the Self-Diagnostic Function to Check for DTCs

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

2. Set the FAN CONTROL dial to OFF, the TEMPERATURE CONTROL dial to Max Cool, and select the VENT mode.

3. Press and hold the RECIRCULATION button, then within 10 seconds press and release the REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER button five times. Release the RECIRCULATION button.

4. The RECIRCULATION indicator blinks two times, then the self-diagnostic function begins.

NOTE:
* The self-diagnostic test could take up to about 90 seconds to run.
* The blower motor will run at various speeds when in the self-diagnostic mode.
* If there is any problem in the system after the self-diagnostic function is finished, the recirculation indicator blinks Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) number 1 through 13. In the case of multiple problems, the recirculation indicator blinks in sequence from the lowest DTC number to the highest.
* If no DTCs are found, the indicator will not blink.

Canceling the Self-Diagnostic Function

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to cancel the self-diagnostic function. After completing the repair work, run the self-diagnostic function again to make sure that there are no other DTCs.
