Throttle Body Removal and Installation
Removal
CAUTION:
Do not insert your fingers into the installed throttle body when you turn the ignition switch to ON (II) or while the ignition switch is in ON (II). If you do, you will seriously injure your fingers if the throttle valve is activated.
1. Intake Air Duct
1. Remove the intake air duct.
2. Throttle Body Assembly
1. Disconnect the connector (A), then remove the clamps (B).
2. Disconnect the water bypass hoses (C), and plug them.
3. Remove the throttle body (D).
Installation
CAUTION:
Do not insert your fingers into the installed throttle body when you turn the ignition switch to ON (II) or while the ignition switch is in ON (II). If you do, you will seriously injure your fingers if the throttle valve is activated.
1. Throttle Body Assembly
1. Install the throttle body (A) with a new gasket (B).
NOTE: If the throttle body is dirty, clean it before installation.
2. Remove the plug then connect the water bypass hoses (C)
3. Install the clamp (D) and connect the connector (E).
2. Intake Air Duct
1. Install the intake air duct.
3. Coolant - Check
1. Check at the coolant level in the coolant reservoir. Make sure it is between the MAX mark (A) and MIN mark (B).
2. If the coolant level in the coolant reservoir is at or below the MIN mark, add coolant to bring it between the MIN and MAX marks, then inspect the cooling system for leaks.
3. Check the coolant level in the radiator, and add Honda Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2 into the radiator up to the base of the filler neck, if needed.
NOTE:
* Always use Honda Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2. Using a non-Honda coolant can result in corrosion, causing the cooling system to malfunction or fail.
* Honda Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2 is a mixture of 50 % antifreeze and 50 % water. Do not add water.
4. HDS DLC - Connection
1. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle. If it does not communicate, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting.
5. PCM - Reset
1. Reset the PCM with the HDS while the engine is stopped.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and wait 30 seconds.
6. TP Position - Check
1. Select the INSPECTION MENU on the HDS.
2. Do the TP POSITION CHECK in the ETCS TEST.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
7. Warm Up The Engine
Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm without load in P or N until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
8. PCM - Idle Learn
1. Let the engine idle for about 5 minutes with the throttle fully closed.
NOTE: If the radiator fan comes on, do not include its running time in the 5 minutes.
2. After learning, turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
