Removal and Replacement




Starter Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Do the battery removal procedure Removal and Replacement.

2. Remove the air cleaner assembly Service and Repair.

3. Remove the intake air duct Engine Removal.

4. Disconnect the positive starter cable (A) and the S terminal connector (B) from the starter, and remove the upper radiator hose bracket (C).





5. Remove the two bolts holding the starter, then remove the starter (D).

Installation

1. Install the starter (A), then tighten the mounting bolts.





2. Install the upper radiator hose bracket (B), and connect the S terminal connector (C) to the starter and the positive starter cable (D). Make sure the crimped side of the ring terminal faces away from the starter when you connect it.

3. Install the intake air duct Engine Installation.

4. Install the air cleaner assembly Service and Repair.

5. Do the battery installation procedure Removal and Replacement.

6. Turn the IMA battery module switch OFF High Voltage Safety.

7. Start the engine to make sure the starter works properly.

8. Turn the IMA battery module switch ON High Voltage Safety.

9. If the IMA battery level gauge (BAT) displays no segments, start the engine, and hold it between 3,500 rpm and 4,000 rpm without load (in N or P) until the BAT displays at least three segments.
