INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL
1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
HINT
All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
(a) Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize parameter Programming and Relearning.
NOTICE:
Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto tilt away function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.
HINT
Performing the above operation causes the auto tilt away function to be disabled when the engine switch is turned off.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.
(c) Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
* W/ Navigation System:
* After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:
* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
3. REMOVE HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the headlight dimmer switch assembly Removal.
4. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
(a) W/O Refrigerated Cool Box:
Remove the rear console box assembly Removal.
(c) W/ Refrigerated Cool Box:
Remove the rear console box assembly Removal.
5. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH Removal

(a) Put protective tape around the instrument side panel.

(b) Using a moulding remover, detach the 3 clips and 2 guides and remove the instrument side panel.
17. REMOVE NO. 2 SWITCH HOLE BASE
(a) Put protective tape around the No. 2 switch hole base.

(b) Using a moulding remover, detach the 5 clips and claw.
(c) Disconnect each connector and remove the No. 2 switch hole base.
18. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH CUSHION
(a) Put protective tape around the No. 1 instrument panel finish cushion.

(b) Using a moulding remover, detach the 4 clips.
(c) Disconnect the connector and remove the No. 1 instrument panel finish cushion.
19. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY
(a) Detach the 4 clips.
(b) Disconnect each connector and cooler thermistor and remove the instrument panel finish panel.
20. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Detach the 4 claws, 2 clips and guide and remove the instrument cluster finish panel.
21. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY
(a) Detach the 5 clips and remove the No. 1 instrument panel register.
22. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal
23. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 2 claws and open the cover.

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts [C].
(c) Detach the 13 clips and 2 guides.
(d) Disconnect each connector and cable and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel.
24. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal

(a) Put protective tape around the instrument side panel.

(b) Using a moulding remover, detach the 3 clips and 2 guides and remove the instrument side panel.
26. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH
(a) Detach the 13 clips and remove the center instrument cluster finish panel garnish together with the instrument cluster finish panel garnish.

(a) Detach the 8 clips and remove the No. 2 instrument panel register.

(a) Put protective tape around the lower instrument cover.
(b) Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws and remove the lower instrument cover.

(a) Put protective tape around the upper instrument cluster finish panel.
(b) Using a screwdriver, detach the 11 clips and remove the upper instrument cluster finish panel.

(a) Partially remove the floor carpet.
HINT
It is not necessary to fully remove the floor carpet. Partially remove it so that the No. 2 instrument panel wire can be removed in a later step.
(b) Remove the 6 bolts [D] and nut [E].
(c) Remove the 2 passenger airbag bolts [F].
(d) Disconnect the connectors and detach the clamps and claws.
(e) Detach the 2 guides and remove the instrument panel safety pad.
