Evaporator Core: Service and Repair




EVAPORATOR REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then recover refrigerant from air conditioning system.
2. Remove blower unit. Service and Repair

3. Remove two bolts for liquid and suction tube, then the eight screws and evaporator cover.







4. Remove evaporator from case.







a. Remove two expansion valve bolts and separate evaporator and expansion valve.

EVAPORATOR INSTALLATION
1. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque liquid and suction tubes to 7 ft. lb.
b. If evaporator was replaced, add 1.4 fluid ounces of oil to compressor.
c. Evacuate and charge air conditioning system.
d. Inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
