Component Tests and General Diagnostics





TIRE AND WHEEL: TIRE AND WHEEL SYSTEM: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT TIRES

(a) Check the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.

Cold Tire Inflation Pressure:





(b) Using a dial indicator, check the runout of the tires.





Maximum tire runout:

1.0 mm (0.039 in.)

2. ROTATE TIRES

(a) Rotate the tires.





HINT
* When the same size tires are installed to the front and rear axles, rotate the tires as shown in illustration (A).
* When different size conventional (non-directional) tires are installed to the front and rear axles, rotate the tires as shown in illustration (B).
* When different size directional tires are installed to the front and rear axles, do not rotate the tires.
3. INSPECT WHEEL BALANCE

(a) Check and adjust the off-the-car balance.





Maximum imbalance after adjustment:

8.0 g (0.018 lb)

NOTICE:
* Use a cleaning detergent to remove dirt, oil and water from the surface where the balance weight is to be adhered.
* Do not touch the adhesive surface of the balance weight.
* Adhere the sticking type balance weight to the flat surface (A) shown in the illustration.

Width (A):

25 mm (0.984 in.)

* Push the balance weight securely with a finger to adhere it to the position.
* Do not reuse a balance weight.
* Use the LEXUS genuine sticking type balance weight.
HINT
* For 17-inch and 18-inch wheels, both inner side and outer side balance weight are sticking type.
* For 16-inch wheels, the inner side balance weight should be installed by clipping it to the rim.
* If necessary, check and adjust the on-the-car balance.
4. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS

(a) Inspect the front axle hub bearing looseness Front Axle Hub.

5. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS

(a) Inspect the rear axle hub bearing looseness Rear Axle Hub.

6. INSPECT FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT

(a) Inspect the front axle hub runout Front Axle Hub.

7. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT

(a) Inspect the rear axle hub runout Rear Axle Hub.
