Reassembly





BRAKE: REAR BRAKE: REASSEMBLY

1. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG

2. INSTALL REAR DISC

(a) Aligning the matchmarks, install the rear disc.





HINT
When replacing the rear disc with a new one, select the installation position where the rear disc has the minimum runout.

3. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE

4. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG

5. INSTALL PISTON SEAL

(a) Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of a new piston seal.





(b) Install the piston seal to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

6. INSTALL CYLINDER BOOT

(a) Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of the rear disc brake piston and a new cylinder boot.





(b) Install the cylinder boot to the rear disc brake piston as shown in the illustration.





7. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PISTON

(a) Install the cylinder boot to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.





NOTICE:
Install the boot securely to the grooves of the cylinder.

(b) Push in the piston by hand and install the boot seal onto the grooves of the piston.

NOTICE:
Install the boot securely onto the grooves of the piston.

8. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSHING

(a) Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of the No. 1 rear disc brake cylinder support pin.





(b) Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of a new rear disc brake cylinder slide bushing.





(c) Install the rear disc brake cylinder slide bushing to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.





NOTICE:
Install the cylinder slide bushing securely to the grooves of the rear cylinder assembly.

9. INSTALL REAR BRAKE BUSHING DUST BOOT

(a) Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of a new rear brake bushing dust boot.





NOTICE:
Apply a sufficient amount of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of the rear brake bushing dust boot and rear disc brake cylinder assembly contact surfaces.

HINT
Apply at least 0.3 g (0.01 oz.) of lithium soap base glycol grease to each rear brake bushing dust boot.

(b) Install the rear brake bushing dust boot to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.





NOTICE:
Install the rear brake bushing dust boot securely to the grooves of the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

(c) Turn the rear brake bushing dust boot to spread the lithium soap base glycol grease.





NOTICE:
Make sure that lithium soap base glycol grease comes out from the entire circumference of the rear brake bushing dust boot and rear disc brake cylinder assembly contact surfaces as shown in the illustration.

10. INSTALL CALIPER SUPPORT BRACKET

(a) Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the caliper support pin of the caliper support bracket as shown in the illustration.





(b) Install the caliper support bracket to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly, and engage the rear brake bushing dust boot to the groove of the caliper support pin.

NOTICE:
Install the bushing dust boot securely to the grooves of the caliper support pin.
