Luggage Compartment Door Entry Unlock Function Does Not Operate When Key Is Outside Luggage Compartment

DOOR LOCK: SMART ACCESS SYSTEM WITH PUSH-BUTTON START: Luggage Compartment Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate when Key is Outside Luggage Compartment
- Luggage Compartment Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate when Key is Outside Luggage Compartment

DESCRIPTION

When the entry luggage compartment open function does not operate, one of the following may be the cause: 1) luggage compartment door opener switch malfunction; 2) luggage opener system (w/o power trunk opener and closer system) or power trunk opener and closer system (w/ power trunk opener and closer system) malfunction; 3) communication malfunction between electrical key antenna and electrical key transmitter; 4) the luggage junction block ECU (w/o power trunk opener and closer system) or power trunk opener and closer ECU (luggage closer motor (w/ power trunk opener and closer system)) receives the luggage compartment door opener switch ON signal, but is unable to send the signal to the certification ECU through CAN communication; or 5) certification ECU malfunction.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK SMART ACCESS SYSTEM WITH PUSH-BUTTON START

(a) Check that the entry lock and unlock function can be operated at each door.

B -- GO TO DTC OF OTHER COMPONENTS (PROCEED TO PROBLEM SYMPTOM FLOWCHART FOR EACH DOOR)
A -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK LUGGAGE DOOR OPENER OPERATION

(a) When the luggage compartment door opener switch is operated, check that the luggage compartment door opens.

D -- GO TO POWER TRUNK LID SYSTEM

C -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH)

B -- GO TO LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SYSTEM
A -- Continue to next step.

3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH)

(a) Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

OK:

On the screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.

NG -- INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT

(a) Bring the electrical key transmitter near the electrical key antenna (in rear bumper), and perform an entry luggage compartment open function check.

NOTICE:
If the key is brought within 0.2 m (0.6 ft) of the rear bumper, communication is not possible.

HINT
* When the electrical key transmitter is brought near the electrical key antenna, the possibility of wave interference decreases, and it can be determined if wave interference is causing the problem symptom.
* If the inspection result is that the operation check is normal, the possibility of wave interference is high. Also, added vehicle components may cause wave interference. If installed, remove them and perform the operation check.

B -- AFFECTED BY WAVE INTERFERENCE
A -- Continue to next step.

5. KEY DIAGNOSTIC MODE

(a) Diagnostic mode inspection (rear inside oscillator)

(1) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(2) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(3) Turn the Techstream on.

(4) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access / Smart Communication Check /Overhead + Luggage.

(5) When the electrical key transmitter is held at the same height as the rear bumper upper surface and aligned with the center of the rear of the vehicle, check that the wireless door lock buzzer sounds.

HINT
If the buzzer sounds, it can be determined that the luggage compartment exterior transmitter is operating normally.

OK:

Wireless door lock buzzer sounds

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA - CERTIFICATION ECU)

OK -- REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA - CERTIFICATION ECU)

(a) Disconnect the R40 antenna connector.

(b) Disconnect the L15 ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (OPERATION)

(a) Replace the electrical key antenna with a new one or normally functioning one Removal.

(b) Check that the entry luggage compartment open function operates normally.

OK:

Operates normally

NG -- CHECK REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU (OPERATION)

OK -- END (ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA IS DEFECTIVE)

8. CHECK REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU (OPERATION)

(a) Replace the luggage junction block ECU with a new one or normally functioning one.

(b) Check that the entry luggage compartment open function operates normally.

OK:

Operates normally

NG -- REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU

OK -- END (JUNCTION BLOCK ECU IS DEFECTIVE)

9. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.

10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH - LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)

(a) Disconnect the S38 switch connector.

(b) Disconnect the S63 ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)

11. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH)

(a) Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

HINT
For vehicles with the power trunk opener and closer system, the Data List of the power trunk opener and closer ECU can be used to check the luggage compartment door opener switch information. For vehicles without the power trunk opener and closer system, the Data List of the luggage room junction block ECU can be used to check the luggage compartment door opener switch information.

OK:

On the screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.

NG -- INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.

12. CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT
