Removal





SUSPENSION: FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM (for 2WD): REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER LH Removal

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL Removal

4. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS

5. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER Service and Repair

6. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER PROTECTOR LOWER Removal

7. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER Removal

8. DISCONNECT STEERING SLIDING YOKE WITH SHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

9. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH Removal

10. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY RH Removal

11. REMOVE POWER STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY Removal

12. DISCONNECT SPEED SENSOR CONNECTOR Removal

13. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Removal

14. REMOVE FRONT DISC Removal

15. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER LH Removal

16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the clip and nut.





(b) Install 2 spacers (SST spacer A) onto the front No. 1 suspension lower arm assembly LH so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm (0.0394 in.) between the arm and spacers.

NOTICE:
* Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer A) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift.
* As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not 1 mm (0.0394 in.) or less.





(c) Using SST, disconnect the front No. 1 suspension lower arm assembly LH from the steering knuckle.

NOTICE:
* Do not damage the dust cover of the lower arm No. 1.
* As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and crow are parallel.
* Make sure to tie the string of SST to the vehicle, to prevent SST from dropping.
(d) Remove the bolt and nut, and then remove the No. 1 suspension lower arm LH.





17. DISCONNECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the bolt, and then remove the bracket of the front height control sensor LH.





18. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the 2 nuts and front stabilizer link assembly LH.





HINT
If the stud bolt turns with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud.

19. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Support the steering knuckle LH with a jack and wooden block.





(b) Remove the bolt and nut, and then disconnect the bottom side of the pneumatic front LH with shock absorber cylinder assembly from the front No. 2 suspension lower arm LH.





(c) Remove the nut and clip.





(d) Install 2 spacers (SST spacer A) onto the front No. 2 suspension lower arm assembly LH so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm (0.0394 in.) between the arm and spacers.

NOTICE:
* Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer A) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift.

(e) Using SST, disconnect the front No. 2 suspension lower arm assembly LH from the steering knuckle.

(f) Remove the bolt and nut, and then remove the No. 2 suspension lower arm LH.
