NAVIGATION: NAVIGATION SYSTEM (for HDD): PRECAUTION

1. PRECAUTION FOR DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
* After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
* When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following systems after the terminal is reconnected.

2. PRECAUTIONS FOR DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY

(a) An HDD is built into the display and navigation module display to store map data etc. which will be used for the navigation system. Therefore, care must be taken for the following points when handling:

(1) When it is necessary to replace the display and navigation module display, be sure to replace it with a new one.

NOTICE:
If a used display and navigation module display is installed as a replacement part, the customer's HDD will not be recognized.

(2) Do not apply any vibration or shock to the display and navigation module display.

NOTICE:
* Do not drop or subject the display and navigation module display to severe impacts.
* Do not use the display and navigation module display if it has been dropped or subjected to a severe impact.
* Do not store the display and navigation module display without the HDD installed. (Only remove the HDD from the display and navigation module display when the replacement display and navigation module display or HDD is ready.)

(3) Do not remove the display and navigation module display if there is a risk that condensation may occur.

NOTICE:
If the temperature of the display and navigation module display changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the display and navigation module display is removed from the instrument panel, it needs to be kept inside the vehicle or in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity.

(4) Take measures to prevent static electricity.

NOTICE:
Touching the terminals of a connector can cause static electricity to be transmitted to the internal circuits. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD.

(5) Keep the display and navigation module display away from magnets or magnetized items.

NOTICE:
Keep the display and navigation module display away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.

3. PRECAUTIONS FOR HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD)

(a) The map data etc for the navigation system is stored on the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Make sure to follow the following instructions when replacing the HDD:

NOTICE:
Data downloaded by the customer may be stored on the HDD. (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch) This data will be lost when the HDD is replaced. Make sure to warn the customer that their data will be lost and obtain their consent prior to replacing the HDD.

NOTICE:
* Do not drop or allow anything to strike the HDD.
* Never use an HDD that has been dropped or struck.
* Do not store an HDD by itself if it has been removed from the display and navigation module display. (Only remove the HDD from the display and navigation module display when the replacement display and navigation module display or HDD is ready.)

(4) Do not remove the HDD if there is a risk that condensation may occur.

NOTICE:
If the temperature of the HDD changes rapidly, condensation may occur inside the unit. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD. Therefore, when the display and navigation module display is removed from the instrument panel, it needs to be kept inside the vehicle or in an environment with an equivalent temperature and humidity.

(5) Take measures to prevent static electricity.

NOTICE:
Touching the terminals of a connector can cause static electricity to be transmitted to the internal circuits. This may cause a malfunction of the HDD.

(6) Keep the HDD away from magnets or magnetized items.

NOTICE:
Keep the HDD away from speakers, motors, magnetized tools and other magnetic items.

(7) Inspect after HDD replacement.

NOTICE:
Make sure to perform Check Hard Disk Drive in Operation Check to confirm that there are no HDD abnormalities after removal or installation Operation Check.
