DESCRIPTION

The main body ECU detects the condition of the door courtesy switches.

HINT
* The main body ECU receives driver side, passenger side, rear LH, and rear RH door courtesy switch signals to control the illuminated entry system.
* The main body ECU receives driver side, passenger side, rear LH, rear RH, and luggage compartment door courtesy switch signals to control the light auto turn off system.
* When performing troubleshooting, inspect the switch that is related to the malfunction only. For example, if the illuminated entry system does not operate when opening the passenger side door with the engine switch off, inspect the passenger side door courtesy switch circuit only.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn Techstream on.

(d) Select the following menu items: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

(e) Read the display on Techstream.

Main Body:





OK:

Normal conditions listed above are displayed.

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
NG -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT DOOR COURTESY SWITCH

(a) Inspect the front door courtesy switch Front Door Courtesy Switch.

(b) Inspect the rear door courtesy switch Rear Door Courtesy Switch.

(c) Inspect the luggage compartment door courtesy switch Back Door Courtesy Switch.

OK:

Door courtesy switches are normal.

NG -- REPLACE DOOR COURTESY SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MAIN BODY ECU - DOOR COURTESY SWITCH)

(a) Check the harness and connector between the main body ECU and door courtesy switches (passenger side and rear RH).





(1) Disconnect the E60 main body ECU connector.

(2) Disconnect the M6 and M7 switch connectors.

(3) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(b) Check the harness and connector between the instrument panel junction block assembly and rear LH door courtesy switch.





(1) Disconnect the DO instrument panel J/B assembly connector.

(2) Disconnect the L8 switch connector.

(3) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(c) Check the harness and connector between the main body ECU and driver side door courtesy switch.





(1) Disconnect the E61 main body ECU connector.

(2) Disconnect the L7 switch connector.

(3) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





(d) Check the harness and connector between the main body ECU and luggage compartment door courtesy switch.





(1) Disconnect the E60 main body ECU connector.

(2) Disconnect the R1 switch connector.

(3) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
