Expedition
The instrument panel dimmer switch generates a variable pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage which is distributed to the steering wheel switches on circuit 19 (LB/RD). The steering wheel switches are grounded through circuit 848 (DG/OG) to the powertrain control module (PCM).

The instrument panel dimmer switch generates a pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage which is sent to the instrument cluster on circuit 505 (GY/YE). The instrument cluster distributes the PWM voltage to the steering wheel switches through circuit 19 (LB/RD). The steering wheel switches are grounded through circuit 848 (DG/OG) to the powertrain control module (PCM).
Possible Causes
- circuit 19 (LB/RD) open
- circuit 848 (DG/OG) open
- clockspring
- steering wheel switches
- PCM
