Head Restraint - Front, With DVD

Removal

1. Remove the backrest panel.

1. Pull out at the bottom on each side, quickly and firmly, releasing the retainers.

2. NOTICE: The clips in the middle of the backrest panel can be damaged if the bottom of the backrest panel is not pivoted away from the seat.

Pivot the bottom of the backrest panel out as far as it will go and slide the backrest panel down, disengaging the upper hooks.
- Remove the backrest panel.





2. NOTE: Driver seat shown, passenger seat similar.

Disengage the 6 J-clips attached to the backrest frame.





3. Detach the pin-type retainer from the backrest frame.





4. Disconnect the 2 DVD player electrical connectors in the following sequence.

1. Remove the wire retainer.

2. Remove the insulation from around the security clamps.

3. Open the top of the security clamps.

4. Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.





5. Push the 2 head restraint guide sleeve buttons in, pull up and remove the head restraint.
- Route the wires out of the seat.





Installation

All seats

1. Route the DVD player wires into the head restraint guide sleeves.





2. Push in on the 2 head restraint guide sleeve buttons while installing the head restraint.
- Position the head restraint to its highest locking position.

3. Connect the 2 DVD player electrical connectors in the following sequence.

1. Connect the 2 white DVD player electrical connectors together.

2. Connect the 2 black DVD player electrical connectors together.

3. Close the top of the security clamps.

4. Wrap the insulation around the security clamps.

4. Secure the DVD player wires in the following sequence.

1. Wrap the wire retainer loosely around the wires.

2. Attach the pin-type retainer to the backrest.

3. Secure the tie-strap retainer around the wires at the white marks.





5. Attach the DVD player jumper harness pin-type retainer.





6. Make sure the head restraint adjusts without excessive effort and locks in place.

7. Engage the 6 J-clips to the backrest frame.

8. Install the backrest panel in the following sequence.

1. NOTICE: The clips in the middle of the backrest panel can be damaged if the bottom of the backrest panel is not pivoted away from the seat.

Pivot the bottom of the backrest panel out as far as it will go and slide the backrest panel up, engaging the upper retainers on the other side of the backrest frame wires.

2. Align the backrest panel middle clips to the backrest frame wires.

3. Align the lower retainers in the backrest panel and push in, engaging the clips.
- Make sure the clips in the middle of the backrest panel are engaged to the backrest frame wires.

Passenger seat

9. Carry out the Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) System Reset. For additional information, refer to the General Procedures portion of Supplemental Restraint System Service and Repair.
