Pinpoint Test G: The Head Up Display (HUD) Module Is Inoperative
Normal Operation
The Head Up Display (HUD) module is designed with a temperature sensor internal to the module. Due to extremely hot weather conditions, the temperature sensor circuit allows the HUD (Head Up Display) module to become disabled under high temperature conditions which could damage the HUD (Head Up Display) module LEDs. The LEDs remain off until the internal temperature is cool enough to operate and not damage the LEDs. The forward collision warning system still operates, but only emits a chime from the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and mutes the audio system.
The HUD (Head Up Display) module is designed with a LED prove-out test. Upon each ignition cycle when the ignition switch is in RUN, the LEDs illuminate for a period of time indicating the HUD (Head Up Display) module is functional.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- HUD (Head Up Display) module
- Cruise-Control Module (C-CM)
