XB176 - Verify That PCM Can Communicate On DCL

NOTE: The purpose of this test is to verify that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) can communicate on Data Link Connector (DLC). A scan tool is required for this test step (ex. New Generation Star (NGS)). Refer to the scan tool operating instructions for specific operating procedure.

- Key "OFF".

- Remove breakout box.

- Reconnect PCM.

- Connect Scan Tool to DLC.

- Start engine.

- While in DLC display, view the RPM Parameter Identification (PID).

- While monitoring RPM, change engine speed.

- Does the RPM PID display and can the value change?

Yes -- Key "OFF". Go to XB177. XB177 - Verify DCL In VCRM

No -- Key "OFF". Go to XB179. XB179 - Check Data (+) and Data (-) Circuit Continuity to DCL
