XB179 - Check Data (+) and Data (-) Circuit Continuity to DCL



- Key "OFF".

- Reinstall breakout box, leave Powertrain Control Module (PCM) disconnected.

- Disconnect scan tool from Data Link Connector (DLC).

- Measure resistance between test pin 18 and the DATA (+) circuit (automatic transmissions/O) at the DLC vehicle harness connector.

- Measure resistance between test pin 19 and the DATA (-) circuit (PK/LB) at the DLC vehicle harness connector.

- Are both resistances less than 5.0 ohms?

Yes -- Replace PCM. Remove breakout box. Reconnect all components. Start engine. A/C "ON", wait 15 seconds. A/C "OFF". Engine "OFF". Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)

No -- Service open circuit. Return to XB176 and continue as directed. XB176 - Verify That PCM Can Communicate On DCL
