Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the compass to duplicate the condition.
2. Inspect to determine if one of the following apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
- Damaged message center indicator module
- Damaged compass module
- Loose compass module mounting


Electrical
- Open Fuse 4 (10 A) in fuse junction panel
- Circuitry open/shorted
- Loose or corroded connectors

3. If the inspection reveals obvious concern(s) that can be readily identified, service as required.
4. If concern(s) remains after the inspection, determine the condition and go to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
