Communication System Diagnostic Notes

Before performing pinpoint tests:
^ Review the equipment level of the vehicle.
^ Make note of module(s) and system(s) with which vehicle is NOT equipped.
^ Make sure DTC being diagnosed is referencing module(s) or system(s) with which the vehicle is equipped.
^ The New Generation Star (NGS) tester may produce a NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED network DTC for no communication if the vehicle is not equipped with the suspect module(s) or system(s).
^ The New Generation Star tester will interpret a module not equipped condition as a communication failure.
^ If a DTC is retrieved for a not equipped module(s) or system(s), disregard the DTC.
^ If a NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED DTC is the only DTC retrieved, the communication system self-test should be considered as passed.
