Cylinder Head Assembly: Specifications

The cylinder heads must not have depressions deeper than 0.0254 mm (0.001 inch) across a 38.1 mm (1.5 inch) square area, or scratches more than 0.0254 mm (0.001 inch).

Cylinder Head Bolts

The cylinder head bolts must be discarded and new bolts installed. They are tighten-to-yield designed and cannot be reused.








Bolts 1-10
First pass 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
Second pass 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
Third pass 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.) & tighten 90°
Final pass Tighten 90°








Two end bolts
First pass 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
Final pass Tighten 90°





Intake manifold bolts & studs 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)








Camshaft bearing cap bolts
First pass Hand-tighten
Second pass 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.)
Final pass Tighten 90°

Exhaust Camshaft Sprocket & VCT Unit Bolts

Use new bolts.

First pass 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
Final pass Tighten 90°

Exhaust Manifold








Install new studs and nuts.

Studs 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.)
Nuts 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
