Pinpoint Test AA: The Adaptive Cruise Control Indicator Is Never/Always On (If Equipped)

Normal Operation

When the adaptive cruise control is engaged, the adaptive cruise control indicator is used to inform the driver that a target (another vehicle) has been detected in front of the vehicle and is either prepared to, or is controlling the vehicle speed. The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) receives the speed control signal from the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus. When the adaptive cruise control is engaged and a target is detected, the C-CM sends a message to the IPC to illuminate the adaptive cruise control indicator along with the appropriate message center message. If the adaptive cruise control message is missing for more than 300 milliseconds, the IPC sets DTC U0104:00 in continuous memory and defaults the adaptive cruise control indicator off.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- C-CM
- IPC

PINPOINT TEST AA: THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON (IF EQUIPPED)

-------------------------------------------------
AA1 CHECK THE SPEED CONTROL OPERATION

- Test drive the vehicle and operate the speed control.
- Does the adaptive cruise control operate correctly?

Yes
GO to AA2.

No
REFER to Fire Suppression System.

-------------------------------------------------
AA2 CARRY OUT THE IPC INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL

- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IPC DataLogger.
- Select the IPC adaptive cruise control indicator (ACC_LAMP) active command. Command the adaptive cruise control indicator on and off while observing the adaptive cruise control indicator.
- Does the adaptive cruise control indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?

Yes
GO to AA3.

No
INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
AA3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the IPC self-test.
- Is DTC U0104:00 recorded?

Yes
GO to Pinpoint Test AS. Pinpoint Tests AS: DTC U0104:00

No
GO to AA4.

-------------------------------------------------
AA4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE C-CM SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the C-CM self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes
REFER to Fire Suppression System.

No
INSTALL a new C-CM. REFER to Fire Suppression System. TEST the system for normal operation.
