Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 57, Driver Door Module for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
A 3-lead sensor is attached to each motor on the memory seat track and recliner assembly. The sensor circuits are connected to the Driver Seat Module (DSM) which supplies the sensor voltage and receives the sensor signals. The DSM receives data from the memory seat position sensors to monitor the positions of the seat track and recliner motors. This motor position data is stored when the DSM receives a SET switch input signal and recalled when it receives a RECALL switch input signal. The Driver Door Module (DDM) is directly connected to the seat control switch containing the memory SET/RECALL buttons. The DDM transmits the switch signal data to the DSM using the Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) communication bus. The DSM also receives memory recall signals from the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter on the SCP communication bus transmitted by the Lighting Control Module (LCM).
- C1920 (LED #1 Circuit Failure) - This DTC sets if the memory LED driver circuit is shorted to ground or open.
- B2373 (LED #1 Circuit Failure) - This DTC is set on-demand if the memory LED driver circuit is shorted to voltage.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Driver seat control switch
- DDM
PINPOINT TEST G: THE MEMORY SET SWITCH INDICATOR IS INOPERATIVE/ALWAYS ON
NOTE: Verify good battery condition before diagnosing the memory seat system. Poor battery condition may interfere with memory seat operation, even if vehicle starting is possible.
-------------------------------------------------
G1 CHECK FOR DDM DTCs
NOTE: The memory SET switch indicator is tested during the self-test and should illuminate then turn off when tested.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test - DDM.
- Is DTC B2373 or C1920 retrieved?
Yes
For DTC B2373, GO to G5.
For DTC C1920 or if the memory SET indicator failed to illuminate during self-test, GO to G2.
No
The fault is not present at this time. CHECK for loose or damaged connector pins and REPAIR as needed. REPEAT the self-test. CLEAR the DTCs.
-------------------------------------------------
G2 CHECK THE MEMORY SET SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Control Switch C545.
- NOTE: Refer to multimeter user's manual for testing diodes.
- Using the diode testing meter function and the following table, connect the meter leads to the memory SET switch pins, component side. Measure the voltages and compare the results to the table, to check the switch LED indicator.
- Is the memory SET switch OK?
Yes
GO to G3.
No
INSTALL a driver seat control switch. REFER to Seat Control Switch Seat Control Switch. REPEAT the self-test. CLEAR the DTCs.
-------------------------------------------------
G3 CHECK CIRCUIT 272 (WH/OG) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: DDM C501a.
- Measure the resistance between DDM C501a-25, circuit 272 (WH/OG), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
GO to G4.
No
REPAIR the circuit. REPEAT the self-test. CLEAR the DTCs.
-------------------------------------------------
G4 CHECK CIRCUIT 272 (WH/OG) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between DDM C501a-25, circuit 272 (WH/OG), harness side and the driver seat control switch C545-7, circuit 272 (WH/OG), harness side.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
INSTALL a new DDM and CARRY OUT Programmable Module Installation (PMI). REFER to Body Control Systems. Programming and Relearning
No
REPAIR the circuit. REPEAT the self-test. CLEAR the DTCs.
-------------------------------------------------
G5 CHECK CIRCUIT 272 (WH/OG) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Control Switch C545.
- Disconnect: DDM C501a.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between DDM C501a-25, circuit 272 (WH/OG), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
Yes
REPAIR the circuit. REPEAT the self-test. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new DDM and CARRY OUT Programmable Module Installation (PMI). REFER to Body Control Systems. Programming and Relearning
