PINPOINT TEST 1: THE COMPASS IS INOPERATIVE - HYBRID
Normal Operation
The compass display (located in the front display interface module (FDIM)) receives battery voltage from the smart junction box (SJB) fuse 14 (10A) through circuit (BR/R). Ground for the compass display (FDIM) is supplied through circuit (B/L). The compass module provides vehicle directional inputs to the instrument cluster, which sends the compass information to the FDIM over the medium speed controller area network (MS-CAN). The FDIM will display the compass direction according to the information that has been provided by the compass module to the instrument cluster.
- DTC B2097 (Electronic Compass Failure) - sets when the instrument cluster attempts a self-test of the electronic compass and its associated circuits and a failure results.
- DTC U0155 (Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster [IC] Control Module) - sets when the FDIM does not receive any network communication messages over the MS-CAN network between the instrument cluster and the FDIM.
Possible Causes
- Fuses
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Compass module
- FDIM (compass display)
- Instrument cluster
Diagnostic Procedure
CAUTION:Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE:Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed will result in false resistance readings. See Battery Disconnect.
