Air Bag Deactivation Indicator: Service and Repair




Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Indicator - Taurus, Sable









Removal and Installation

NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON.

NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

1. Depower the SRS. For additional information, refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering.

2. Remove the 2 screws from the instrument cluster finish panel.

3. Position the instrument cluster finish panel out enough to release the RH clip to the cross-vehicle panel.

4. Gently pull outward to release the clips on the cross-vehicle panel.

5. Disconnect the Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) indicator electrical connector.

6. Remove the 2 screws and remove the PAD indicator.

7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
