Balance Shaft: Adjustments

Checking Adjustment Of Balance Shafts

1. Remove splash shield.

2. Turn crankshaft clockwise until TDC mark on camshaft sprocket is aligned with cast mark in mount for ignition cap. TDC marks on flywheel and cast clutch housing must also be aligned.





3. Take off upper drive belt cover.





4. Mark on upper balance shaft sprocket must be aligned with mark of rear drive belt cover.





5. Remove end cap in lower drive belt cover. Check position of mark on lower balance shaft sprocket through this hole.





Mark on sprocket must be aligned with mark of rear drive belt cover.
