Vacuum Pump: Service and Repair
WM 477619 Removing and installing vacuum pump - as of model year 2009
Technical values
Information
A vacuum pump is used to create the vacuum for the brake booster. As of model year 2009, this vacuum pump is designed as a solo pump -1- (up to model year 2008, this vacuum pump, together with the oil suction pump on the left cylinder head, is designed as a tandem pump).
It is driven by the outlet camshaft on the left cylinder bank.
Overview of vacuum pump
Preliminary work
1. Raise the vehicle.
DANGER
Vehicle can fall down
- Risk of squashing or crushing
- Risk of damage to the vehicle
-> Do not place any solid objects under the raised vehicle.
-> Ensure that the lifting platform is prevented from lowering.
-> Remove solid objects before lowering the vehicle.
-> Raise the vehicle only at the take-up points provided.
-> The outer take-up points should be used primarily.

Removing vacuum pump
1. Disconnect vacuum line and electric line.
1.1. Release plug-in coupling -1- at the vacuum line and pull it off the vacuum pipe.
Vacuum line
1.2. Remove vacuum line and electric line from the clip holder -2-.
2. Remove vacuum pipe.
Vacuum pipe
Loosen and unscrew M6 x 12 screws -1- and pull the vacuum pipe -2- off the vacuum pump.
3. Remove vacuum pump.
Information
When you loosen the fastening screws, engine oil will run out of the vacuum pump. Place a suitable container underneath to collect the emerging engine oil. The engine-oil level must be checked and topped up afterwards (following installation).
Vacuum pump
Unscrew M6 x 20 external Torx screws -4- and remove the vacuum pump.
Make sure not to loosen the internal Torx screws.
Installing vacuum pump
1. Clean contact surfaces.
Clean contact surfaces on the vacuum pump and left cylinder head.
2. Install vacuum pump.
2.1. Replace sealing rings.
Vacuum pump
Grease sealing rings -2, 3- with "Kluber Syntheso Glep 1" (Porsche Part No. 000.043.204.68) before fitting them.
2.2. Align vacuum pump driver -1-.
2.3. Fit vacuum pump and screw in and tighten external Torx screws (M6 x 20) -4-.
=> Tightening torque: 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.)
3. Install vacuum pipe.
3.1. Check sealing rings -1- on vacuum line -2- and replace if necessary.
