Tools

Technical values

General information

Symptom

The seconds hand on the SportChrono clock stops briefly (for two seconds) at "29" seconds in time mode and then skips directly to "31" seconds.

Cause, date of introduction and remedial action
Cause
Timing problem during time synchronisation between the instrument cluster, the gateway control unit and the SportChrono clock.

Date of introduction
17 August 2009 as of vehicle identification numbers:

RoW:

97 ZAL 041243 Panamera S
97 ZAL 080611 Panamera Turbo

USA:

A7 9AL 060512 Panamera S
A7 0AL 090267 Panamera Turbo

Remedial action
Re-program the instrument cluster using PIWIS Tester II with test software version 2.200 (or higher) installed.

Tools and materials

PIWIS Tester II 9818 with test software version 2.200 (or higher) installed.
Battery charger (current rating of at least 40 A)

Programming instrument cluster

Information

- Instrument cluster programming takes approx. three hours.

The vehicle cannot be moved during programming.

NOTICE

Programming interrupted

- Malfunctions in control unit
- Risk of damage to control unit

-> Before starting work, connect a suitable battery charger with a current rating of at least => Nominal value: 40 A to the jump-start terminals in the engine compartment.
-> For vehicles with Porsche Entry & Drive, remove the control panel from the ignition lock and instead of the control panel insert the original vehicle key into the ignition lock. Keep the control panel in a safe place.
-> Switch on the ignition using the original vehicle key for the duration of the work, otherwise the ignition will be switched off automatically after 10 minutes and control unit programming will be interrupted.

1. Connect PIWIS Tester II with installed test software version 2.200 (or higher) to the vehicle and switch it on.
2. Disconnect electric plug connection ( -item 1- ) for the fan blower ( -arrow- ) to prevent the fan from coming on during control unit programming.
Operation of the fan and the increased current draw as a result of this can cause a voltage drop, which can cause control unit programming to be aborted.
