Removing trim panel for tailgate





Overview

Information

- To reduce the unclipping forces and thereby the risk of damage during removal, the removal steps must be carried out at the accessible connection points using a suitable tool.

1. Open the tailgate.
2. Remove trim panel for window frame at the centre -1-.

2.1. Loosen the outer clips by pressing on the marked areas -A-.
2.2. Lift off trim panel for window frame at the centre -1- using a suitable tool -2-.
2.3. Pull off trim panel for window frame at the centre -B-
3. Remove trim panels for window frame at the side -1-.

3.1. Loosen clips using a suitable tool.
3.2. Remove trim panels for window frame at the side -1- with a gentle pull.
4. Detach lower part of trim panel at the rear.
4.1. Unclip cover -1- on fastening screw in the finger plate with a screwdriver.

4.2. Unscrew fastening screw -1- on finger plate -2-.

4.3. Remove finger plate -2-.
4.4. Unclip covers -1-.

4.7. Unscrew fastening screws -1- under the finger plate.

4.8. Unclip luggage compartment lamps -1-.

4.9. Release electric plug connections. -A-
4.10. Pull off electric plug connections -2-. -B-
4.11. Unscrew expanding screws on rubber stop -1-.

4.12. Remove rubber stop -1-.
5. Carefully loosen the clips -marking- on the lower part of the trim panel -1- at the marked areas using a suitable tool.

6. Pull off lower part of trim panel -1-.

Installing trim panel for tailgate

Information

- Check that all the fastening clips are positioned fully and correctly.

- Check that all the fastening clips are not bent or broken.

- Replace damaged or missing clips with new ones.

1. Install lower part of trim panel -1-.
1.1. Position lower part of trim panel -1-.





Pressing on lower part

1.2. Check that all clips -markings- are fitted on the relevant gap of the counterpart component.
1.3. Pull electric plug connections for the luggage compartment lights through the openings in the trim panel.
1.4. Press clips into the counterpart components until they click into place by pressing on the lower part of the trim panel -1-.
2. The lower part of the trim panel is screwed on in the opposite sequence to removal.
=> Tightening torque: 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)+/-1 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)

Removing finger plate

3. Install trim panels for window frame at the side.
3.1. Install in reverse order to removal.
4. Install trim panel for window frame at the centre.
4.1. Install in reverse order to removal.
5. Install and adjust the rubber stop.





Adjusting rubber stop

5.1. Loosen clamping screw on rubber stop.
5.2. Fit rubber stop -1- approx. 1 cm into the square opening.
5.3. Close the tailgate and then open it again.
5.4. Pull the rubber stop out again by one notch. -A-
5.5. Tighten the clamping screw. -B-
6. Close the tailgate.
