Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation
CHECK ENGINE LAMP (MIL) The CHECK ENGINE lamp
(MIL) lights up when the control module grounds the lamp circuit via pin 22. The lamp always lights up when the ignition switch is turned to the DRIVE position and does not go out until the engine starts.
If an emission-related fault arises in the MOTRONIC system, the CHECK ENGINE lamp (
MIL) will remain alight.
