Description of On-Board Diagnostics

The Motronic control module communicates with the Intellegant Saab Tester (ISAT) scan tool via pin 83. Communication is two-way and accordingly consists of both input and output signals.

The ISAT scan tool can communicate with the Motronic system when the ignition switch is in the ON position or when the engine is running. At high engine rpm it may be difficult to establish communication with the Motronic control module.

The data link connector is situated on the cover below the dashboard between the steering wheel and pedal assembly.
