Check Engine, Check Gearbox Lamp On

Symptom Of Fault.
The lamps do not light up or are on constantly when not activated by the control module. Note that the SHIFT UP lamp is tested for 3 seconds each time the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

Conditions.
No diagnostic trouble codes.





Diagnostic Procedure.
1. Check the lamps
- Connect an ISAT scan tool.
- Ignition switch in ON position.
- Select "ACTIVATE".
- Select "CHECK ENGINE LAMP" and "SHIFT UP LAMP".

Do the lamps flash?
YES:
^ Functionality is OK.
NO:
^ Check that the bulbs are OK. Then continue with point 2.





2. Check The Wiring.
- Check The Wiring between the Trionic control module and the main instrument display panel. CHECK ENGINE lamp (MIL): Between pin 32 of the Trionic control module and pin 12 of the EDU.
SHIFT UP lamp: Between pin 55 of the Trionic control module and pin 14 of the main instrument display panel.

Is the wiring OK?
YES:
^ Continue fault diagnosis in the Electrical system, instrumentation systems.
NO:
^ Rectify the fault.
